PERFORMING ARTS PROGRAMS
PERFORMING ARTS AT SPA
Educating. Guiding. Inspiring.
SPA welcomes performing arts students of every skill level with programs focusing on Dance, Music, Theater and Media Arts. There are no auditions for admission to SPA or our programs. Curriculum is available for beginning and exploring students as well as those who are seeking advanced level training and education in their given discipline. We encourage our students to explore new classes and interests during their time at SLSPA.
Since our teachers are also professional artists themselves, SPA's programs are designed to motivate future artists and those who love to perform. Our desire is to create a positive learning and performing experience for all students, and to provide the knowledge and inspiration to take their art to the next level. Our students receive intensive preparation for college and for an exciting career.
ACADEMICS AT SPA
Along with the unique performing arts curriculum, through a partnership with the Salt Lake City School District we are able to offer a complete array of academic classes, including AP, Honors and Concurrent Enrollment courses.
Additionally, we offer a blended learning environment classroom where students are able to take their CORE classes in a Student-paced, student-focused digital curriculum.
Whether in our Academic or our Performing arts classes, our faculty and staff work with students to stimulate intellectual, artistic and technical originality. By providing such an environment, we strive to graduate young people who can work independently and creatively.
SPA'S OPEN HOUSE AND SHADOW DAYS
Spend a day with us.
SPA invites you to come take a peek at the amazing opportunities available to you at our school. We have multiple ways for you to catch a glimpse, including a pre-scheduled full-day shadow day, a pre-scheduled SPA open house, a personal tour, or an individually-scheduled part-day shadow day. Scroll down to learn more about these options.
SHADOW DAYS
Shadow Days are a chance for prospective students to spend a full-day at SPA, in our classes. This is our recommended method for getting to know our school as students get a real feeling for what it's like to attend SPA!
Students should plan to arrive at 7:15 am with their parents for the Full-day Shadow Day. The day begins in the lab theater where we'll have a short meeting with parents and students before going on a tour of the school. Students will be given a schedule of the classes that are available that day from which to choose and will also be provide lunch.
Interested students need only attend one Shadow Day. Please bring appropriate clothes and shoes to move in if you are planning on taking a dance class. Parents are asked to return at 2:30pm for a short exit meeting in the Lab Theater after school. Information about registration will be provided and questions will be answered. We look forward to having you with us.
Shadow Day Dates for 2021: TBA
OPEN HOUSE
Meet with the administrators and students, take a tour, ask any questions you have about the school and see a show on us! This meeting will give you all of the parental information you need on applying, and the registration process.

Behind the Scenes at SPA
It's not your average day-in-the-life in the academic schedule for SPA students. From piano labs to performances, one-on-one instruction to collaborative creativity, music theory to mathematics, creating costumes to designing light, moving the film plane to moving the body, students are challenged, engaged, assessed and encouraged every hour, every period of the day at SPA.
